What causes stress urinary incontinence?
Vaginal delivery, obesity and aging contribute to changes in the pelvic floor area that can weaken the mechanism that closes the urethra. Until now, the only options have been muscle training called Kegel exercises or a surgical implant called a urethral sling.
Kegels are only marginally effective because they are based on daily compliance.
Surgery requires hospitalization, a recovery period, and potentially serious complications.
How does IncontiLase work?
IncontiLase is a simple, non-surgical and extremely effective laser treatment.
During the procedure, a special accessory, similar to a speculum used in a Pap test, is inserted into the vagina.
This allows the vaginal area to be treated with short laser pulses through a small handpiece.
The photothermal heating affects the collagen both in the vaginal walls and in the urethra. This causes restructuring and regrowth of collagen.
The result is a thickening and tightening of the vaginal walls and urethra to prevent urine loss.
An added benefit is that it will also tighten the vagina.
